Production blog write up 2

Blog write up: week 2
On the second week I had my photoshoot which I believe went well. I had my props prepared and ready at the time of the shoot, the model showed up on time and had the right costume on. The background I needed was ready and the butterfly lighting was ready also. This made me well organised for my photoshoot and prepared to take the photos that I had planned to as soon as I got there so I could complete taking all my photos in the half an hour I had. From the experience of being involved in a real photoshoot I learnt that you must always keep one hand on the focusing ring of the camera. Along with that I learnt how to position the models to make sure they are close together in the photos as if they were further away the lighting on them can have different effects and they will be shown differently.

Overall I was happy with the photographs I had taken as I had acquired what I needed for my front cover and DPS photos. I had the model placed how I wanted when taking the photos and positioned myself properly so I could create third line effects and tilts.

This is the photo I am using for my front cover, I chose it as it placed my model at one side of the shot and had the eye-line below the third line whilst keeping the body in the frame. This allowed me to include the prop on the front cover and have the model seem disgruntled and messy with the shirt buttons not correct showing that it is taken after the night out. This helped convey the message of alcohol abusing and shows that is the effects that alcohol has on you as you can end up in a state and even in prison.

These are three of the images I am using in my DPS as they help me show a story as it is like walking through a scene. The first image shows a problem I had with some of the images at my photoshoot as the softbox is seen in the top corner so I had to adjust my model and move to take the images elsewhere to make sure they did not interrupt my photos anymore. The images are showing how you start off looking normal on a night out then once you drink you change and will become distorted and rowdy. This is followed up by my article where I talk about the effects of a night out and how it can result in something such as being arrested for alcohol abuse or being drunk and disorderly. I was not able to complete the article in the second week but I had a draft ready so I knew the kind of direction I wanted to go in and then had to perfect it to make my article fit my audience better.

Production blog write up 1

Blog write up: week 1
On the first week of production I did not expect the setting up of my front cover and DPS to take as long as it did.Creating the pages to make sure they were the right size for my magazine, the margins were all correct and the colour schemes would work together took a long time to get right. This has taken some time away from my production but it has made sure my final product will be more precise and better looking as a real magazine. The loss of production time is also dented by my photoshoot being the 12th March. It leaves me with enough time to finish my product although I believe it would have been easier if I had booked my photoshoot at a earlier time. If I were to do this again I would know to book my photoshoot a long time in advance to ensure I can create the product as best as it can be.

Once my pages were set up I was able to plan how the pages would look. On my DPS I placed all of the image boxes and text boxes so I know how my text and images are going to be set out. This gives me an advantage meaning that as soon as I get the images I want and have a well written article I will be able to put them straight into place. I also knew how I wanted to layout my front cover with a strapline and the image I was going to use for my front cover so then I just had to find the places I wanted to put my sell lines and other magazine front cover features such as the price and barcode.
